Berlin declared war on Telegram – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The German authorities have threatened to block Telegram and multimillion-dollar fines to its creator Pavel Durov. In fact, they have declared war on the messenger. This is how the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova described what was happening.

“Official Berlin has publicly declared war on the Telega. Otherwise, it is impossible to qualify coordinated interviews of two members of the federal government,” the diplomat commented on the statements of two German ministers on her Telegram channel.

Zakharova recalled how she recently discussed with the Deutsche Welle columnist and Echo Moskvy journalist Alexander Plyushchev the situation around the messenger, how Berlin is tightening the screws. “Plyushchev responded to my expressed hope that the blocking of Telegram in Germany will not take place. But, it seems, he was mistaken. But the hints were – persecution and as a result of the termination of satellite broadcasting RT DE in Germany became a clear sign of the introduction of a new level of censorship in this country “, – said the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“Alexander, we really need your column in DW about the atrocities of the German regime against the messenger. The German authorities will definitely listen to you,” Zakharova wrote, assessing the statements of German Interior Minister Nancy Feser, who allowed the Telegram messenger to be blocked in the country in the event, and German Justice Minister Marko Bushman, who threatened Durov with multimillion-dollar fines.

“It’s time to introduce a hashtag, symbolizing Germany’s rollback from democratic values, – #MerkelNot like this,” Zakharova concluded.
