The criminal cases initiated after the accident at the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo region were transferred to the central office of the Investigative Committee (IC), they will be combined into one criminal proceeding. The corresponding instruction was given by the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, it says on the website of the department.
We are talking about criminal cases about breaking industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, which inadvertently resulted in the death of two or more persons (part 3 of article 217 of the Criminal Code) and negligence, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence (part 3 of article 293 of the Criminal Code). Each of them faces up to seven years in prison.
In the first case, there was detained Director of the Listvyazhnaya mine Sergey Makhrakov. According to the UK, the mine managers violated industrial safety requirements, which caused an explosion, smoke of the ventilation drift and the death of workers.
The second case was brought against the inspectors of the Belovsky territorial department of the Siberian Department of Rostekhnadzor. In November of this year, the inspectors drew up acts on the inspection of the roadway (underground mining), which in fact was not checked, the investigators say.
