The celebrations dedicated to the Independence of Bulgaria began with a military ritual at the Atanas Sirekov Square. The ceremony was attended by representative units of the Navy, Ground Forces and Air Force, as well as organizations of combat veterans.
In the presence of many officials and citizens, the flags of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Municipality of Burgas and the European Union were raised. The priests of the Burgas Orthodox clergy served a festive prayer for the prosperity of the motherland.
During the ceremony, the Burgas Brass Band performed the “Hymn of Independence”, written by the bandmaster of the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment Georgy Shagunov a few hours after the reading of the Manifesto by Prince Ferdinand.
The official ceremony was attended by representatives of the delegation of the city of Pavlodar – Kazakhstan, with which Burgas signed the Sister City Memorandum today. Municipal and state institutions had their representatives.
The celebrations, organized by the Burgas City Hall, continued with the laying of wreaths and flowers at the monument to the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment, as well as a folklore concert on Atanas Sirekov Square with the participation of FTA “Nikola Ginov” and DFTA “Radost”.
