Finnish President named an important point in relations with Russia

In relations with Russia, the most important thing is not to ignore its interests, and the Russian leadership does not forget its respectful attitude. This opinion was expressed by the President of Finland Sauli Niiniste. “(In relations – ed.) With the Russians, the most important thing is not to subvert or ignore them,” he said in an interview with the Sunday Times. The Finnish leader mentioned as an example the former mayor of Finnish Turku Juhani Leppä, who met with the current Russian President Vladimir Putin several times in the early 1990s. According to Niiniste, Putin has never forgotten Leppa’s deference and still invites him to Moscow. At the end of October this year, a meeting of the presidents of Russia and Finland took place. At it, Putin told Niiniste about the possibility of overcoming the damage to the economy caused by the pandemic, and the Russian leader also noted the growth of trade between the two countries. In addition, the heads of state agreed to continue joint work on major projects.
