Russia can reach the required level of herd immunity to COVID-19 within three months if vaccination coverage increases 4-5 times. About it TASS said the director of the Center. Gamalei Alexander Gunzburg.

“The volume of vaccinations per day should be increased 4-5 times, then we will reach the required immunization coverage threshold within three months and stop curling our fingers about the next wave,” he said.

The level of herd immunity to coronavirus in Russia exceeded 50%

Previously, the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus in Russia reportedthat the level of collective immunity to coronavirus infection in the country exceeded 50%. So, as of November 19, 66,400,393 people were vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine, 58,713,240 people underwent a full course of vaccination. Moreover, on November 12, the level of herd immunity in the country was 49%.

Among all regions, the highest level of herd immunity was noted in Chukotka (73.2%), Tuva (71%), Sevastopol (70%), Moscow region and Karelia (both 69.6% each). Dagestan is an outsider among all Russian subjects in this indicator – 23.5% (the only region where the level of herd immunity is below 30%).

In July, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed update the model of vaccination of Russians against the coronavirus COVID-19, taking into account the need to bring herd immunity in the country to the level of 80-90%.
