In the village of Ibred, Shilovsky district, a square was laid out near the bust of Hero of Russia Igor Filkin
On September 23, in the village of Ibred, near the bust of the Hero of Russia Igor Filkin and the square, which also bears his name, a square of 50 mulberry seedlings was laid out.
The initiative in this was shown by the Cossacks of the Ryazan regional department “South-Eastern Union of Cossack communities.” The trees were planted by Cossacks who participated in a special military operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, veterans of local wars and the Union of Airborne Forces, members of the Youth Army, and schoolchildren. Many of them participated in the construction and opening of this memorable place. Employees of the regional newspaper “Shilovsky Vestnik” brought and planted a thuja sapling near the bust.
The seedlings were presented free of charge by an old friend of the Shilovsky Cossacks, the head of the economic security department of the Russian National Security Agency, Major General Viktor Binkovsky.
“Participants of this action once again showed that the exploits of the heroes of the Fatherland will live for centuries. And their memory will be passed on from generation to generation. It is also gratifying that the square near the bust of the hero was dedicated to his 50th birthday.”
Igor Filkin served at the 12th frontier post of the 117th Moscow border detachment on the Tajik-Afghan border. On July 13, 1993, the outpost accepted an unequal battle with the militants, in which the Shilovsky guy fought to the last. For this feat, Igor Filkin was awarded the title of Hero of Russia (posthumously). Zheludevskaya secondary school, where he studied, bears his name. In July of this year, a bust of the Hero of Russia was erected in the village of Ibred, where Igor Filkin was born. On November 30, 2022, he would have turned 50 years old.
