Kremlin calls US decision to summit without Russia “privatization of democracy” – RBK

Moscow has a negative attitude to the US plans to hold a “Summit for Democracy” and sees this as an attempt to draw new dividing conclusions, said presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“We fought-fought in the early 1990s to shorten and remove dividing lines, but now the United States prefers to create new dividing lines and divide countries into good, in their view, and bad, also in their view,” he cites the words TASS

Washington is trying to impose its idea of democracy on other countries, Peskov continued. “They are trying to privatize the word democracy. That is [в их представлении] democracy is only that which is consistent with the understanding of Washington. Obviously, this cannot and should not be so. Actually, there is no such thing, ”said the press secretary of Vladimir Putin.

Last night, the White House website published a list of countries that the US authorities have invited to the upcoming December Summit for Democracy. There are 110 countries in the list. But among them there are not, in particular, Russia and China.

The material is being supplemented.
