This conclusion is contained in a statement made by Alexander Lukashenko on January 15 at a meeting with the national peacekeeping contingent at the Machulishchi military airfield, which completed their mission in a friendly country, the press service of the head of state reports.

The President of Belarus stressed that the transfer of the contingent of troops of the allied countries in the shortest possible time eliminated the threat of destruction of the state, ensured the stabilization of the situation and the restoration of constitutional order in the country.

The operation in Kazakhstan, he said, was the first time that peacekeeping forces were actually used to ensure the security, stability and integrity of one of the member states. “The success of your mission can be regarded as the emergence of an effective mechanism to combat the so-called color revolutions,” the Belarusian leader said.

Joint efforts, Lukashenka is convinced, “not only cooled the ardor of terrorists and extremists controlled from outside, but also showed the whole world the close allied ties, the viability and potential of the CSTO.”

In this regard, he drew attention to the fact that the threats faced by Kazakhstan are common to most states in the post-Soviet space. “We understand that the events in our brotherly republic are yet another attempt at external interference in the internal affairs of independent states,” the head of state stated. He made it clear that the CSTO operation is a signal to everyone who sharpens the sword along the perimeter of the Belarusian-Russian border.

What already reported, the day before, the withdrawal of the Belarusian military contingent of the CSTO peacekeeping forces from Kazakhstan was completed. The delivery of peacekeepers was carried out by the Aerospace Forces of Russia. Ten planes with the Belarusian military on board landed at the military airfield Machulishchi.

“Servicemen of the 103rd Vitebsk Separate Airborne Brigade received a unique experience of participating in a peacekeeping mission. The tasks set were successfully completed,” the Belarusian Defense Ministry noted.
