More than 40 people died in road accident in Bulgaria – RBK

A passenger bus caught fire on the Struma highway in Bulgaria, killing 45 people. About it informs Bulgarian agency BGNES. National Television BNT transfersthat the death toll is 46.

According to BGNES, the accident occurred on the 31-km highway Sofia – Blagoevgrad at about 3:00 (4:00 Moscow time). On November 22, at 21:00 (22:00 Moscow time), the bus passed the Kapitan-Andreevo border checkpoint. “On the 31st kilometer of the highway there was an accident with a bus carrying 52 people, as a result of which a fire broke out. 45 people were killed. <...> Investigative actions continue, but the fire occurred as a result of an accident, ”said the head of the fire department Nikolai Nikolov.

According to BGNES, 12 children are among the dead. Seven people – two women and five men – were injured and were taken to the hospital. The head of the burn department at the hospital, Maya Argirova, said that the victims had burns to the face and upper respiratory tract, lacerations, and one person had a fracture.
