The city of Bolgar hosted a four-day All-Russian Muslim Forum. It became the first this year’s jubilee event dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria.
The forum brought together guests from Moscow, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk regions, Kuzbass, Bashkortostan, Mari El and other regions of the country. Among them were eminent scientists, famous preachers. The conference was chaired by the mufti of Tatarstan Kamil khazrat Samigullin. He recalled that at a recent visiting meeting of the strategic vision group “Russia – Islamic World” in Jeddah, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov proposed to assign Kazan the status of “City of the first printed Koran in the Muslim world” and convinced the Saudi Arabian authorities to allow vaccinated Muslims of Russia to perform the Hajj in 2022.
The participants of the forum were the first to see the extended trailer of the documentary film “Ibn Fadlan”. The picture tells about the famous traveler, the secretary of the Arab Caliphate embassy, who witnessed the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria as an official religion in 922.
Also there was presented the project “Tuganbatyr” (native hero), which is being implemented by the National Tourist Complex “Tugan Avyl” together with the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Tuganbatyr is a new hero of fairy tales and a collective image of the Tatar warrior. It was based on oral folk art. He is brave, strong, savvy, he is the keeper of family traditions and the defender of the Motherland. Tuganbatyr will appear in cartoons, comics, computer games and, of course, books. One of them will be the fairy tale “Legends of Tugan Batyr”. People’s writer of the Republic of Tatarstan, famous playwright Zulfat Hakim was involved in its creation.
