Bloomberg: up to a million Britons will face impoverishment next year
Due to the continued rise in energy prices due to the situation in Ukraine and problems in the labor markets, a large number of Britons were predicted to live in poverty soon. Bloomberg, citing data from the British National Institute for Economic and Social Research NIESR predictedthat up to a million people in the country will face impoverishment next year.
It is noted that in the near future, 250 thousand families will be in “extreme poverty”, and the UK should prepare for a recession. To solve this problem, the authorities need to provide a support package of $5.2 billion, experts have calculated. In their opinion, inflation at the end of this year will be 14.4 percent, which will be the highest figure in the last 40 years. At the same time, the country’s economy will shrink by five percent by the end of the year, the NIESR concluded.
Earlier it became known that the British government trains a bill that would require any legal entity involved in a real estate transaction to provide details of the ultimate owner of a home, as well as disclose information about the source of funds of its buyers.
