Atyrau refinery fined 5 million tenge

ATYRAU. KAZINFORM – The Department of Ecology of Atyrau Region has fined ANPZ LLP in the amount of more than 5 million tenge, Kazinform correspondent reports.

“The Department of Ecology of the Atyrau Region carried out preventive control of large oil enterprises “Atyrau Oil Refinery”, “ALMEKS Plus” and “Svetland-Oil”. Based on the results of the inspection, a number of violations were revealed at ANPZ LLP. In particular, the data on wastewater discharges are filled in incorrectly. Also, when studying the table on the amount of waste, the data were not fully presented. Barrels of used chemical reagents and waste oils, scrap metal, used oiled rubber products, welding electrode cinders were found on the territory of the installations. It turned out that there are no specially equipped places for collecting construction waste,” said Deputy Head of the Department of Ecology, Chief State Environmental Inspector Syrym Tylegenov.

During the inspection, it also turned out that oil-containing effluents were located on the territory of the mechanical treatment plant. It was also found that there are reservoirs and ponds with open sludge No. 3, in which, during evaporation, pollutants are released that adversely affect the atmospheric air of the city.
According to the deputy head of the department, Syrym Tylegenov, there are no samplers in the furnaces of the sulfur production unit, the catalytic cracking unit.
“ANPZ” LLP did not fully comply with the conditions specified in the permit for emissions into the environment. At the same time, in the course of preventive control, it was established that in May and June 2022, ANPZ LLP carried out unauthorized environmental emissions into the environment due to unscheduled downtime of installations that were not reflected in the annual schedule for 2022,” Syrym said. Tylegenov.
The enterprise was fined for a total amount of more than 5 million tenge.
Also, during the preventive control carried out by the department, it was found that waste was scattered on the territory of ALMEX PLUS LLP. The enterprise was fined 150 thousand tenge.
