European countries are facing a shortage of staff in the tourism sector

NUR-SULTAN. KAZINFORM – In many countries, covid restrictions have been lifted and citizens have the opportunity to travel freely. However, the tourism business continues to experience problems, primarily with the recruitment of staff. This is reported by MIA “Kazinform” with reference to euronews.

The owners of hotels and restaurants, in order to compensate for the damage from the quarantine, are trying to save money on the salaries of employees.

According to a study by the World Travel and Tourism Council, Italy in 2022 will be the country most affected by a shortage of staff in the tourism sector. This season, the Apennine Peninsula lacks 250,000 workers. In the French tourism business, 71 thousand positions will remain unfilled, in the UK – 128 thousand, in Portugal – 49 thousand vacancies.

France and Portugal are trying to compensate for the shortage of workers through emigrants. In the UK, the government opposes the arrival of temporary workers from abroad.

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, a more favorable visa policy, as well as the offer of training, advanced training programs and benefits for employees, can attract workers to this area.
