Deputy Prime Minister Golikova announced an increase in the number of unemployed in Russia by 4 thousand people

Over the past two months, the number of unemployed Russians officially registered with the employment service has increased by four thousand people, writes RBC with reference to the words of the Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

“As of May 5 of this year, compared to March 1 of this year, for the first time, an increase in the number of unemployed citizens who are officially registered with the employment service was registered. Before that, this trend did not manifest itself, ”said Golikova. According to the Minister of Labor Anton Kotyakovanow 690.5 thousand citizens are looking for work in Russia.

In addition, many companies have recently announced a change in employment regimes. The number of Russians who were sent to idle time by their employers increased to 138 thousand people, the number of part-time employees – up to 131 thousand, Kotyakov added. The trend is associated with the departure of Western companies, reporting the termination or suspension of work in the country after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine.

The Center for Strategic Research considers the most likely scenario, according to which by the end of the year the number of jobs in the Russian economy will decrease by two million – the unemployment rate will increase from 4.4 to 7.1-7.8 percent. Nevertheless, in this case, the labor market will begin to recover as early as 2023.

In April, head of HeadHunter Mikhail Zhukov allowed an increase in unemployment to the level of 2009, when it was 7.8 percent. Under the most optimistic scenario, the figure will rise to 5.7 percent. According to Bloomberg, unemployment in Russia at the end of the year may increase more than double that of the first quarter.
