Ex-deputy head of the department of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chelyabinsk region received 8 years for the patronage of realtors
The Kopeysk city court sentenced the former deputy head of the department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (GUMVD) for Chelyabinsk region in a corruption case. About it TASS reported in regional prosecutor’s office.
The defendant was found guilty of taking bribes, abuse of office and attempted fraud. The court sentenced him to eight years in prison in a strict regime colony, and he was also fined 9.6 million rubles. The ex-policeman was deprived of the rank of lieutenant colonel and the right to hold positions in the internal affairs bodies.
The court found that from 2005 to 2014, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs provided patronage to realtors, in particular, he helped them avoid criminal liability for fraud with citizens’ apartments. For his services, he was given real estate worth 962 thousand rubles. In addition, with the assistance of a police officer, a mother with two children lost her apartment, the ownership of which was registered by the scammers to his mother-in-law.
The involvement of the defendant in the attempted theft of 750 thousand rubles from a local resident was also established.
