Former adviser to Leonid Kuchma Igor Bakai detained in Moscow region
“At the 6th kilometer of the Krasnogorsk Highway, a 58-year-old citizen was detained, who is on the federal wanted list of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Anti-Corruption Center of the Republic of Moldova on suspicion of committing fraud on an especially large scale. The detainee was placed under arrest, ”a KP source said.
Bakai served as head of the State Administration of Ukraine in 2003 and 2004 and was an adviser to President Leonid Kuchma. He also initiated the creation and served as the first chairman oil and gas company “Naftogaz”.
The criminal case against Igor Bakai in the Republic of Moldova was initiated in 2018. Its details were not disclosed.
