The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, in his Twitter account for the first time gave an assessment of the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan almost a day after its completion. By the way, he considered this situation normal.

“There is no reason to use the visit as an excuse for aggressive military activity in the Taiwan Strait,” Borrell wrote. “It is normal and routine for lawmakers from our countries to travel internationally.” reports RIA Novosti.

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan on Wednesday, August 3. Pelosi believes her visit to the island brings “peace to the region.” She announced desire to develop cooperation between the parliaments of the United States and Taiwan.

Official Beijing considers Taiwan an integral part of China. In 1979, the United States severed diplomatic relations with the island’s authorities. At the same time, Washington continues to support them, including in the field of defense.
