Minister Aoun says Libya is unable to increase oil and gas supplies to Europe

Libya refused to compensate Europe for Russian oil and gas due to the lack of excess natural resources. The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity of the country, Mohammed Aoun, said that the state cannot increase supplies and replace exports from Russia, transmits information portal Akhbarlibya24.

“We are unable to increase oil and gas supplies to Europe. It is necessary to increase production,” the politician emphasized.

Aung specified that the National Oil Corporation was instructed to focus its efforts on the development of untapped oil and gas fields.

The minister added that the development processes in this sector need funding and qualified and transparent management.

On the impossibility to increase natural gas production for the export of Aung said back in February, when the minister said that the volumes of gas that were previously exported through the Green Stream gas pipeline to Italy, and then entered the pan-European network, are currently used for the needs of power plants and other facilities inside Libya.

In March he declaredthat if the country is able to replace Russian oil in Europe with its own, then not earlier than in five to seven years.
