Putin instructed the government to develop a plan for the development of the Northern Sea Route until 2035

President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed the government of the country to prepare a bill on the transfer of control of the Northern Sea Route State Corporation “Rosatom”says on site heads of state.

By July 15, the government must ensure that changes are made to the legislation that provide for the centralization of powers to manage the Northern Sea Route and organize shipping for Rosatom.

In addition, Putin instructed the government to develop a plan for the development of the Northern Sea Route until 2035 by August 1. Among other things, the plan should provide for the predicted volume of cargo traffic, the modernization of shipbuilding and ship repair organizations, the creation of an Arctic satellite constellation to provide ships with meteorological and navigation data, an increase in the number of rescue ships and rescue centers Russian Emergency Situations Ministry.

Earlier in May reportedthat, against the backdrop of sanctions, Russia decided to sharply increase the volume of traffic along the Northern Sea Route. In 2022, it is planned to transport 32 million tons of cargo along the route, and by 2024 the figure will increase by 2.5 times – up to 80 million tons.
