Doctor Dyachenko said that due to PMS, a woman can gain weight

Obstetrician-gynecologist, sexologist, specialist in ultrasound diagnostics Daria Dyachenko called the cause of sudden fullness in women, not amenable to treatment. She talks about this in her Telegram-channel.

The specialist warned about the edematous form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), which can cause a woman to gain weight dramatically. “In addition to the usual estrogen, the body is attacked by progesterone, which contributes to fluid retention in the tissues,” the doctor explained the phenomenon.

According to her, because of this, the stomach, buttocks, thighs, nasolabial triangle and the mucous layer of the uterus swell. At the same time, along with edema during PMS, flatulence and bloating or constipation may appear. This condition is incurable at the moment, but disappears after menstruation.

The most susceptible to the edematous form of PMS, according to the gynecologist, are overweight women, as well as leading an inactive lifestyle, preferring food with phytoestrogens and experiencing regular stress. In addition, at risk for this form of PMS, Dyachenko added, are women with bad habits who take oral contraceptives and women with liver or kidney pathology.
