Already in 2022, Poland will begin to strengthen the border with the Kaliningrad region of Russia using electronic systems. A similar electronic barrier 202 kilometers long is being built on the Polish-Belarusian border. Now poles with cameras are being installed there, then sensors and sensors will be installed.
The press secretary of the chief commandant of the Border Guard Service of the Republic Anna Makhilskaya spoke about the planned work on the border with Russia, reports the Polish agency PAP on Thursday, August 4th. “It is planned to expand the perimeter protection of the border both on the border with the Kaliningrad region and near the border river Bug,” she said.
Recently, Poland completed the construction of a fence 186 kilometers long and five meters high on the border with Belarus. Night vision cameras and motion sensors are placed on the electronic barrier. The decision to put up new barriers was made after several thousand migrants from the Middle East went to the Belarusian-Polish border in November 2021 and set up camp there. They tried to break into Poland, their attempts were stopped by the security forces. The European Union and Belarus blame each other for the crisis.
Accusations were also made against Russia. In Moscow, however, they declared that they were not involved in the influx of migrants to Europe. In February, Poland announced about plans to build a fence on the border with the Russian Federationby analogy with Belarus.
