The head of state noted that the capabilities of the Russian navy are constantly improving. The President stressed that in the Naval Doctrine Russia openly outlined the boundaries and zones of its national interests. First of all, these are the Arctic waters, the waters of the Black, Okhotsk and Bering Seas, as well as the Baltic and Kuril Straits. “We will ensure their protection firmly and by all means,” Putin said.
The head of state also announced the continuation of large-scale construction of ships and vessels. He promised that “big positive changes” in the fleet will take place in the coastal regions.
On the Day of the Navy, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on approval of the Maritime Doctrine of the country and the Ship Charter of the Navy.
