Ministry of Emergency Situations: rescuers eliminated oil spill in Avacha Bay in Kamchatka
Rescuers in Kamchatka have completed the elimination of an oil spill, which was discovered the day before in the coastal zone of Avacha Bay in the center Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. About it RIA News told in the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Kamchatka.
“Kamchatka rescuers have eliminated the spill of oil products in the waters of Avacha Bay,” the agency’s press service confirmed.
It is specified that in total the rescuers collected 15 tons of oil sludge and debris. The Ministry of Emergency Situations assured that there is no threat to the environment.
Pollution in the coastal zone of Avacha Bay was noticed on May 13. The slick of oil products stretched along the coastline for 500 meters.
At the end of March, as a result of a five-point storm in the Black Sea happened accident at the offshore berth of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). The hoses of the inner sleeve of the remote mooring units (TLU), which are used in ports to fill tankers with oil, were damaged. Nikolai Gorbal, General Director of the company, assured that the situation with the accident at the company’s oil pipeline is under control, nothing threatens the ecology of the Black Sea.
