The Russian armed forces in the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine destroyed two M777 howitzers supplied from the United States. This was announced on Saturday, July 30, by the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov.

The American-made guns were destroyed as a result of a counter-battery fight near the village of Stepnogorsk. About it reports RIA Novosti. Also, Russian troops hit two batteries of Giacint-B guns and a battery of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) Uragan.

The M777 howitzer is a 155 mm towed gun adopted by the US Army and Marine Corps in 2005. Due to its low weight, it can be transported on the external sling of CH-47 Chinook helicopters or MV-22 Osprey convertiplanes. Developed in the UK, but not used by the UK Army. It is in service in the USA, Australia, Canada, India, Saudi Arabia and Ukraine.
