Several dozen residential buildings flooded after a rainstorm in Kokshetau

KOKSHETAU. KAZINFORM – 58 mm of precipitation fell in Kokshetau in a day and a half, which is 80% of the monthly norm. Because of the rain, 60 courtyard areas were flooded, including 20 residential buildings, Kazinform correspondent reports.

According to the press service of the Department of Emergency Situations of the Akmola region, on July 29 in Kokshetau, 60 courtyard areas were flooded due to rain, including 20 residential buildings.

“Immediately, at the direction of the head of the Department of Emergency Situations of the Akmola region, an operational headquarters was deployed. Works are underway to pump out rainwater, as well as a survey of the declared addresses, to provide assistance if necessary. At present, water has been pumped out of 20 flooded residential buildings from 3, work on pumping water continues,” the ministry explained.

According to the rescuers, 40 personnel, 20 DES motor pumps, 10 workers, four sewers, one excavator of local executive bodies are involved in pumping water. At the moment, 6300 cubic meters of water have been pumped out.

“Life-support facilities are operating normally. There are no victims or injured,” the ministry added.

“This is a problem in Kokshetau every year when there is heavy rainfall. We had about four crews working at night. Now the shift has changed, two crews are working. Until 6 in the morning, the yards were pumped out: Kuanyshev, Sadvakasov, Baitursynov, Ualikhanov, Satpaev … A lot of applications. Now we are pumping out the local history museum. Everyone was alerted at night. This is a normal phenomenon during such precipitation,” Ermek Umirgaliyev, General Director of the State Enterprise on the REM Kokshetau Su Arnasy, explained the situation.

According to Daniel Zhumazhanov, head of the meteorological forecast department of RSE Kazhydromet for the Akmola region, 28 mm of precipitation fell in Kokshetau tonight, but 20 mm had already fallen yesterday, and 10 mm the night before.

“As a result, 58 mm of rain fell in a day and a half. In the city, the monthly norm is 72 mm. And this means that 80% of the monthly norm fell out. According to forecasts, we gave heavy rains yesterday. Today, there should not be such heavy rains in Kokshetau, and in the east of the region they are still possible,” D. Zhumazhanov said.

At the moment, all services of the regional center are busy pumping water and resolving the situation.

Recall that a half-monthly rainfall fell in Stepnogorsk a day earlier, flooded market, several roads and partly a clinic.
