The entry of Finland and Sweden into North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) will not remain without political reaction. This was stated by the Vice President Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Grushko. His words on Saturday, May 14, leads RIA News.

At the same time, the diplomat promised, the decision on the Russian reaction in the event that Finland and Sweden join NATO will not be made on emotions, since a thorough and verified analysis of all factors will follow.

“This change cannot remain without a political reaction, as well as without a very thorough analysis of the consequences of a new configuration of forces that may emerge as a result of another expansion of the alliance,” Grushko said.

May 13 Finnish Foreign Minister Pekki Haavisto reportedthat the country will apply to NATO in the middle of next week. A similar step is being considered in Sweden: according to local media, Stockholm can send the corresponding application as early as May 16.
