Foreign Policy: US actions led countries to refuse to oppose Russia over Ukraine

American edition of Foreign Policy explained the refusal of most countries to support the United States and oppose Russia against the backdrop of a special military operation in Ukraine.

Thus, the authors of the article reacted to the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held in Washington, during which the leaders of the bloc demonstrated a position of neutrality on the Ukrainian issue.

The FP writes that the US has sunk to the level of a “defective democracy” which has prevented most countries from joining their efforts against Russia. It is noted that the White House’s attempt to present the conflict in Ukraine as a “battle of democracy against autocracy” did not work.

“In the eyes of most of the world, the country that preaches, the United States, is a badly damaged democracy that must first heal itself,” the article says.

Earlier, Global Times columnist Mark Blacklock expressed the opinion that the United States and its allies trying hide the geopolitical split, creating the illusion that the whole world has united around the West because of the situation in Ukraine.
