The US Senate approves the admission of Sweden and Finland to NATO

US senators approved a resolution on the ratification of the protocols on the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO.

Thus, the United States became 21 out of 30 countries that ratified the accession of Sweden and Finland to the North Atlantic Alliance, reports RIA Novosti on Thursday, the fourth of August.

Sweden and Finland applied to join NATO in May 2022. The countries received invitations to join during the Alliance summit, which took place in Madrid on June 29. In July both countries signed protocols on joining the North Atlantic Alliance.
