Turkey does not close the door for Sweden and Finland to join NATO. This was stated by the official representative and chief adviser to the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan Ibrahim Kalyntransmits Reuters.
“But in essence, we are raising this issue as a matter of Turkish national security,” he said.
Kalyn also said that PKK (PKK), which is recognized as a terrorist organization in the country, raises funds and engages in recruitment in European countries, in particular in Sweden. According to Erdogan’s spokesman, the Swedish authorities should take appropriate measures to ensure that such organizations and individuals stop their activities.
“NATO membership is always a process. Let’s see how things go. But this is the first point to which we want to draw the attention of all allies. [по НАТО]as well as the Swedish authorities,” he stressed.
Earlier it was reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reacted on the possible accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO. He emphasized that Ankara does not consider such a decision to be a positive development of events.
