NATO was created for confrontation, and Russia is concerned about any expansion. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, answering questions from journalists.
Talking about Moscow’s attitude to possible accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO, Peskov noted: “Of course, any NATO expansion worries Russia.”
“NATO is not a development institution, it is an instrument of confrontation,” Peskov recalled. “This is an absolutely obvious fact. Therefore, the expansion of this mechanism poses a threat to us,” he concluded.
