Russians spending on purchases and services during the New Year holidays increased by 10-12%

The spending of Russians in the field of trade and services during the New Year holidays of 2022 exceeded last year by 10-12%. This is reported TASS with reference to experts and retailers.

In 2022, Russians have become much more likely to order ready-made food in retail, food delivery from public catering, and also spend money in restaurants and cafes themselves. Thus, according to OFD Platform, sales in restaurants and bars during the New Year holidays increased by 24%, and online – almost 4 times. In the “fast food” category, sales in monetary terms increased by 27%, while online – 6 times.

As noted in Yandex.Food, soups and breakfasts showed the most significant increase during the holidays. Users were also more active than last year ordering pancakes, sandwiches and salads. In Yandex.Lavka on January 1, soups showed an increase of 20% compared to December 31, and the most popular were chicken, borscht and solyanka. Also in Lavka on January 1, a surge in demand for instant noodles was recorded – it was ordered three times more often than on December 31.

According to analysts of “Index Check”, in general, sales in the main categories of retail and services for the New Year holidays exceeded last year’s level by 10-12%.

Previously, analysts of services included in the Sber ecosystem, figured out, which was more often spent by residents of Russia on the days of the January holidays.
