The head of the administration of Energodar, Alexander Volga, announced that an artillery shell hit one of the power units of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This is reported TASS.
According to Volga, the shelling was carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The projectile hit a non-working power unit.
One of the hits – through – was in the power unit, an artillery shell. I had a photo. The power unit is not working, which is not yet in working condition <...> What will they guess to shoot from next time? Some decisions need to be made within the framework of all these events,” he said.
The head of administration added that there was no increase in the radiation background at the station.
Earlier, the Ukrainian state-owned enterprise Energoatom reported about the shutdown of the fifth power unit of the nuclear power plant.
They added that at present the sixth power unit continues to operate, which, with limited capacity, supplies electricity to Ukraine through a backup line, and also provides for the needs of the station.
