The future chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, rejected the idea of ‚Äč‚Äčintroducing a new lockdown in the country, even despite a sharp deterioration in the epidemiological situation due to the spread of the coronavirus. Writes about this Bild.

According to the newspaper, Scholz does not consider it expedient to introduce complete isolation of the inhabitants of Germany. At the same time, as the newspaper notes, the politician advocates a sharp restriction on the holding of public events, including sports competitions and concerts. These restrictions may affect not only unvaccinated, but also vaccinated citizens, says Bild.

The publication writes that the acting Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, on the contrary, advocates a general quarantine.

According to the Robert Koch Institute of Virology (subordinate to the Ministry of Health of the Federal Republic of Germany), over the past day, the number of confirmed new cases of coronavirus infection in Germany has increased by 76,414, which was the next maximum for the entire time of the pandemic. The previous anti-record was recorded on November 25, when 75,961 cases of infection were detected per day.
