A bill that will allow children with disabilities to retain the survivor’s pension is being prepared by the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans’ Affairs. Information about this is published on the website of the lower house of parliament. According to a member of the committee, Ekaterina Stenyakina, consultations are now being held with the Pension Fund and the Ministry of Labor.
According to the current norms, if one of the parents of a disabled child dies, he is entitled to only one pension – either for disability or for the loss of a breadwinner. The State Duma believes that this is unfair. And they propose to expand the list of recipients of two pensions.
So, at the moment, citizens who have become disabled as a result of a military injury have the right to receive two pensions; participants in the Great Patriotic War; parents of military personnel who did military service by conscription, who died (died) during military service or died as a result of a military injury after being discharged from military service; widows of servicemen who died during the period of conscription military service as a result of a military trauma, who did not remarry; disabled family members of citizens affected by radiation or man-made disasters; citizens awarded with the sign “Resident of besieged Leningrad” or “Resident of besieged Sevastopol”; family members of the deceased (deceased) citizens from among the cosmonauts.
As previously explained to Rossiyskaya Gazeta in the Pension Fund of Russia, depending on the category of recipients, there are different combinations of pensions. For example, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the blockade are assigned a state disability pension plus an old-age insurance pension.
