Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his election as President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He wished him success, good health and prosperity. The telegram was published on the Kremlin website.
“Your Highness, dear friend, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on your election as President of the United Arab Emirates. I am sure that your activity as head of state will contribute to the further development of friendly Russian-Emirati relations, mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas,” the telegram says.
On May 13, it became known that UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan died at the age of 73 after a long illness. A 40-day national mourning was declared in the country. In telegrams of condolences sent by the head of the Russian Federation to a number of UAE officials, it is noted that “Sheikh Khalifa has done a lot to strengthen friendly relations and constructive cooperation between the countries.”
